Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.
Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.
Now training with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's first title since the Rome competition and first on a hard court after March of 2023.
The win also means the Russian has achieved 21 victories at 21 distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my children at once, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," said ranked player Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.
The player's defensive approach and recurring reactions on court had caused commentators to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was over.
But the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play assertively, reinforced by an better serving game.
Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the final five games to go ahead.
Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.
Moutet saved four early-game chances in a tight deciding set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
