Vinted Shoppers Share Frustration Regarding Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Changes
Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
